Reptile Harness

Collar / harness and leash, is it needed for my bearded dragon?
My beardie loves it when I take him outside, or even hold him in my arms. I just recently adopted him, he is round two years old.
I have had some people tell me that I may want to invest in getting a leash for him when I take him out that if he gets loose or away from me I will never be able to catch him.
For his protection should I look into getting one?
What type would be better than another? I know they sell small roped ones for reptiles, but they look like more of a dangerous thing to me. What do you think?
I would recomend getting a harnness, its better for them, and you have better control over him
