Reptile Heat Lamps

With my reptile terarrium turned on its side, can I place the Heat Lamp on top without heat-breaking the glass?
I'm afraid not. Glass will crack if it is exposed to quite a high temp generally for a quite long time. Heat lamps generate a lot of heat, so will eventually crack the glass. It doesn't really matter if you turn it on its side or not, as it will still be heating up glass (assuming you have an all glass terrarium). You'll need to get a proper screen top and put the heat lamp over that.
