Mercury Vapor Reptile Bulb?
Hello I am wondering how well the mercury vapor bulbs work as a uvb source. Im worried they will produce too much and possible cause vision problems if used because they dont actually rate the amount of uvb being generated. so if someone could help me out by explaining what if any reptiles benefit from this type of light and just any information on the bulbs... again not just merely use or dont use.
The main reason people's pets get vision problems is because they put the light to close to the Basking Spot. Mercury vapor bulbs will produce a lot of heat, I've noticed, so it shouldn't be sitting directly on top of the enclosure. It should be at least 10 inches away from the closest place to the lamp the pet can get to.
