how much longer will my leopard gecko live?
i've had her for 6-7 years. she was a juvenile when i bought her.
for the past 2 years i have not been giving her vitamins or calcium but i probably should be.
she has been in a 10 gallon aquarium her whole life on Reptile Carpet and always has hiding places.
i feed her 1 medium sized cricket a day because she's pretty fat.
she still climbs trees and decorations in her tank every day. her tank is 80 degrees year round.
how much longer will she live?
They are said to be able to live up to 30 years in captivity, but usually live around 10. It depends on the quality of care you provide. If you have been skipping vitamins/calcium for 2 years, a large portion of her life has been chopped off. Have you also been giving her a moist hide for shedding? I cricket a day is not enough for an adult leopard gecko, even if she is pretty chunky. Adult leos don't need to be fed every day (every other day is fine), but mine each eat about 3 crickets plus 6 giant mealworms each time. I strongly advise you to start giving her calcium and vitamins, especially if you're not gut loading her food with nutritious stuff.
